Schedule photoshoots for times when your child is well-rested, fed, and when they are alert so they do not get sleepy or distracted during the photoshoot.   Bringing their favorite lovies or things that make them laugh is a wonderful idea.   Bring burp clothes, extra diapers & an extra pair of clothes or outfit just in case of accidents!   If it would help, bring their favorite music CDs & we can play them, otherwise, I generally have music playing during photoshoots anyway, to make it a fun experience.  Some children photograph better with their parents in the next room, others need their parents nearby.
I do not recommend photoshoots longer than 30 minutes for children under age 5.  I expect that babies & even toddlers will want to take breaks & nurse, have munchies, a drink, or need to be changed,  so please do not feel bad if they do.
If you have more than 1 child, I will shoot them together first, because it takes the most time, & then shoot them individually.  PLEASE bring toys or something to entertain your children with while their siblings are being photographed.  If they are not allergic to cats, and are over age 3, they may play in our playroom.  Please allow extra time before leaving, as most children have difficulty leaving the playroom.
If you are taking diaper free photos with infants, I will place a pad under them just in case!
I edit out drool, stains, hair whispies & blemmishes, so do not cancell a photoshoot for those reasons, those are fixable!
I shoot photos until the child gets wrestless or loses interest. I do not like to force children to take photos longer than necessary to get cute shots.  I will not force the kids to wear costumes or hold props they don't want to.  Photoshoots for kids are directed by the kids!
I cater to their personality & style.
Bring as many outfits, props, costumes & accessories as you would like.  We will shoot the ones you absolutely must have first, and then shoot whatever else we have time for.  Bring:  hairbrush/comb/straightener/curling iron/hairspray, gel & other hair accessories if you are changing hairstyles during your session.
Also, even if you ordinarily do not wear make-up, it is recommended that you bring eye-liner, mascera & lipliner, especially for black & white photos.  Lip gloss is essential for black & white & low-light dramatic, high-key photos!
Check the photography package you are getting for whether it covers outdoor & indoor photos.  Packages with indoor studio photography take longer & are more expensive due to lighting changes.  Sometimes, the best place to shoot photos is your own house, because all the things that are "all about you" are right there in your room!  We can meet at your school, house, playing field, downtown, parks. Often times I shoot just outside the studio
here, as we have 2 beautiful lakes 7 lovely landscaping surrounding us.
It is a good idea to research before your photoshoot & email me any photos that interest you, so that I can get an idea of what types of photos you are going for.  EACH photoshoot is different, I cater towards different styles & personalities. Your input is essential for unique photos!
You may schedule your couples romantic or basic photoshoot anytime before the wedding. Most people like them several months prior, to pass out to family/friends & have published in the newspaper announcements. Coordinate your outfits so the colors & styles look good together in a single image.  Shades of blue photograph the best, I recommend stearing clear of white, orange & teil, as these colors tend to wash out skin.

PLEASE ask your officiant (person marrying you) what their r
estrictions are for the photographer before speaking with me the first time, because it helps me decide which lens & settings to use before I get to your location.  Officients tend to show up at the very last minute, or even late, on your wedding day & there is nothing worse, than an officient telling me I have to be over 100 feet away or cannot use flash etc. during the cerimony or 5 seconds before the bride comes out!  I'd like to know beforehand to be prepared.

I love taking "getting ready" photos.  It is entirely up to you, but I like to show up
before the bride/groom are dressed to shoot the "getting ready" moments.

I also like to be there
at your wedding rehearsal so that I may map out outlets, space & lighting & give the bridal party tips on how to make wedding photos turn out their best!

I usually make a point to shooting children under 10 first, & shoot all family photos that include those children first, then proceed with the older individuals due to short attention spans.  Please bring toys or things to entertain your children during the rest of the photoshoot.
