She is not restricted to a tripod to photograph children.  This enables her to move as the children move, whereas store photographers frustrate the children because they are not allowed to move out of the view of the camera's tripod. 

She has won over 50 awards for the photography of toddlers in pageantry, and ran her own national photo contest for 4 years.
About the Photographer
Dorothy Gevers, has a Bachelor's in Science in Early Childhood Education from Indiana University.  She has worked with children for nearly 20 years, and so she specializes in photographing babies and children.  She has an eye for capturing that childhood innocence, humor, and special cuteness that only children can posess. 
She does not "stick to the basics" like commercial photographers do.  They have "templates" to pick from for various ages, poses, & scenes.  However, Dorothy's graphic design abilities enable her to create an infinite array of possibilities with seemingly ordinary photos.  She also uses unconventional props in addition to ordinary ones.
As a student of Graphic Arts, in the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, NY, Dorothy Gevers has an innate artistic ability, she is a digital artist and a painter-by-hand.  She doesn't just think like a photographer, she thinks like an artist.  She turns seemingly ordinary photos into works of art.  

She is extremely detail oriented.  She arranges a photo until it achieves an artistic balance of color, light & placement, even if these effects are added digitally after the photoshoot.  She pays attention to hair placement, gestures, composition & background in every photo, & perfects it after the photoshoot on computer.

In nearly every portrait session, she designs artful composities of your photos for you to keep free, and more are avialable for purchase. 

She also offers cost-saving opporunities such as a copyright release form for the CD of approved digital images to print at any photo lab you would like.  This enables her to design gorgious photo studioes and collage presentations that would cost $200 elsewhere that only cost you $20 or less to print & frame yourself.
